Graveside services for Theresa F. Armstrong, 87, of Milano were held Monday, May 22, 2023, at Liberty Community Cemetery in Milano with Tomm Owens officiating.

Mrs. Arms t rong died peacefully at her home with family by her side on Thursday, May 19, 2023.

She was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Butler County, Alabama, to William and Opal Fussell, the third of five children.

After graduating from Georgina High School, she attended Troy University.

She soon after met her lifelong love, BJ Armstrong, and they married in 1956. The couple moved to Texas in 1960 where they had their daughter, Cheryl Leigh, and went into the grocery business, launching the Foodland grocery store chain in the Central Texas area.

The Armstrongs moved to Milam County in 1970, where they started a ranch and cattle enterprise. BJ passed away in 1997.

Mrs. Armstrong loved to play golf with her friends in Cameron, Rockdale, and later in Seguin, where she had a home at the river.

She was also a gardener, loved to can fresh vegetables from her garden and she was an excellent cook.

One of the many things she passed on to her family was the love of fishing—whether it was at her tank in Milano or at the river in Seguin, you could find her many times with her cane fishing pole, loving nature and spending time with family.

Above all else, Theresa loved her family. She loved being “G” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also fondly known as “G” to many of Scott and Leanne’s friends, as well as other family members.

Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband, BJ Armstrong, in 1997, as well as two sisters, Cheryl and Lathia, and a brother, Wyatt.

Survivors are her daughter, Cheryl Leigh Owens and Dennis of Milano; grandson, Scott Owens and Lisa of Milano; granddaughter, Leanne Burrough and Cody of San Marcos; and sister, June Crowder of Mobile, Alabama.

Also, five great-grandchildren, Tyler Frank, Mario Owens, Bailey Burrough, Jaxon Owens, and Blake Burrough.

Pallbearers were Scott Owens, Cody Burrough, Tyler Frank, Mario Owens, Jaxon Owens, Blake Burrough and David Popham.

Honorary pallbearers were Pud Owens and Miss Bailey Burrough.

Memorial donations may be made to Milano Volunteer Fire Department or Milam Touch of Love.
