Baban

Funeral services for Wally R. Baban, 50, of Cedar Park, formerly of Rockdale, were held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, with Rev. Stephen Ammons officiating. Burial followed at Minerva Cemetery in Minerva.

Mr. Baban died Tuesday, Jan. 22, at his home in Cedar Park.

He was born March 24, 1968, in Baghdad, Iraq, to Shirley Adell (Carey) and Riadh Baban.

They moved to Rockdale, where he attended Rockdale High School. He received his bachelor’s of fine arts degree from Southwest Texas University in San Marcos.

Mr. Baban later moved to Cedar Park and, for the past 11 years, was owner and operator of 620 Motorsports in Austin.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Mildred Hubert; paternal grandparents, Suad and M. Ali Baban; and two uncles, Ben Carey and Noble “Pete” Hubert.

Survivors are two children, son Cole Baban and daughter Carli Baban, both of Cedar Park; his mother, Shirley and Frank Rogers of Rockdale; his father, Riadh Baban of Rockdale; two brothers, Nathan Baban and wife Michelle, and Adil Baban, all of Rockdale; two sisters, Zena Caldwell and husband Cody of Rockdale, Rana Baban of Round Rock; nephews, Christian Carrasco and Tyler Caldwell of Rock-dale; a niece, Trinity Baban of Rockdale; and an aunt, Beverly Hubert McComb of Galveston.

Pallbearers were Cody Caldwell, Tommie Pounders, Steve Johnson, Michael Raski, Bruce Johnson and Daniel Denton.

Honorary pallbearers were Christian Carrasco and Tyler Caldwell.
