Betty Morton
Betty Morton, 89, of Blackjack passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, in Cameron. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Blackjack Cemetery with pastor Jimmie Mrs. Morton Haile officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Betty was born on Oct. 19, 1934, to Gayle Tarver Modesette and Blanch Miller Modesette. She was raised in the Pleasant Hill community and later in Rockdale and had lived in the Blackjack community for over 70 years.
She married Lloyd B Morton on Feb. 24, 1951, in Caldwell.
Betty was a homemaker and a wonderful cook and enjoyed having Sunday meals with her family. She had a fierce presences in the family. She was a loving grandma and counselor.
Betty enjoyed doing crafts and decorating her home and was a great seamstress. She enjoyed family trips to the coast and was a very loving person.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd B Morton; and a sister, Judy Gayle Modesette.
Survivors are her daughters, Sandra L Morton- Satcher and husband C.H. of Blackjack, Linda Gayle Morton of Blackjack; sister Alice Edmondson and husband Billy Don of San Saba; grandchildren Susie Hubnik and husband Jimmy, Scotty Matthews, Mitchell Surovik and wife Amy; great-grandchildren Dakota, Katie, Jessica, Bradley, Byron, Wyatt and Madelynn.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Matthews, Jimmy Hubnik, Bradly Surovik, Byron Surovik, Dakota Hubnik and Mitchell Surrovik.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Blackjack Cemetery Association.
