Charles Ray Skeeters

Charles Ray Skeeters was born on Nov. 14, 1943, in Rockdale and grew up and remained in the Klein area, where he left this earth peacefully on Feb. 27, 2023, a t h ome in Spring at the age of 79.

He was the devoted husband of Peggy (Fergeson) for just over 56 years, loving dad and father-in-law of Sonya and Kirk Fleener and Kari and Jeff Miller, and doting GPa to Travis, Kenzi and Jenna.

To family, friends, coworkers and acquaintances, he was known by many names: Charles Ray, Charles, Chuck, Charlie, Mr. Chuck, Dad, and GPa, but the name he cherished the most was Child of God.

Charles came to know the Lord at an early age and faithfully served Him through the years at Recreation Acres Full Gospel Church and North Central Assembly of God Church.

He graduated with a business degree from University of Houston in 1967, and spent time in the U.S. Army in Savannah, Georgia, and Vietnam.

He held positions in finance at various corporations and later worked at McMillon Electric as an electrician and eventually in office management.

Charles enjoyed traveling with his family—by car or his beloved motor home—to visit numerous states. His all-time favorite vacation spot was Colorado to admire the beauty of God’s creation in the Rocky Mountains.

Charles was preceded in death by, and reunited in eternity with, his parents, Charlie and Lottie (Caffey) Skeeters, and grandson Adam Fleener.

In addition to his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, he is survived by his aunt, Barbara Springer, of Rockdale and numerous cousins from the Milam County area.

The funeral service and interment were held on Friday, March 10.

Charles was buried at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Magnolia.
