Claiborn
Bobby F. Claiborn, 91, of Rockdale died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at his home.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 9, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Chaplain Bruce Mercer officiating.
Mr. Claiborn was born June 16, 1926, in Jacksonville to George Herman and Ruby (Bearden) Claiborn.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II before being honorably discharged in 1946.
He married Sammy Huston on May 16, 1952, in Galveston.
Mr. Claiborn worked as a switchman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for years before retiring June 1, 1982.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sammy Huston Claiborn; his parents, George Herman and Ruby Claiborn; and two brothers, Choice Claiborn and Herman Berl Claiborn.
Survivors are a son, Robert S. Claiborn of Pflugerville; a brother, Jimmie Claiborn and wife Jean of Friendswood; a half-sister, Edell Gloor of League City; and his caretakers, Gail Crawford, Rosie Johnson, Yolanda Rosas, Dorothy Denton and Hazel Vasquez. 21, 1954, in Pineville, Louisiana, in Rapides Parish to Joseph Preston and Velma Louise (Rachal) Delrie.
She received her associate degrees in computer science and application engineering.
She married Lawrence Gabriel Jr. on Oct. 26, 1974, in Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Gabriel last worked at TSTC in Waco and enjoyed working with the students.
Survivors are her husband, Lawrence Gabriel Jr. of Cameron; two children, Shauna Rogers and husband Johnnie of Leander, Lawrence (Sonny) Gabriel III and love Amanda Becker of Buda; three siblings, Joseph (Sonny) Preston Delrie Jr., Nelda Terrell of Marlin, Marilyn Hester and husband Monty of Lafayette, Louisiana; and eight grandchildren, Mariah Williams, Dimitric Murph Jr., Tyler Gabriel, Kohen Gabriel, Hope Becker, Karson Becker, Brady Becker and Kristan Rogers.
