CAMERON—Robert A. Clayton Jr. of Temple died Dec. 5, 2022, in Temple.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Mr. Clayton was born to Ester and Robert Clayton on May 11, 1939, in Milam County.
He attended school in Rogers and O.J. Thomas School in Cameron.
Mr. Clayton retired from Alcoa in 1993. He was the first black supervisor.
He professed Christ at an early age and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church at his time of death.
Survivors are his daughters, Lillie Clayton, Carol Washington, Janet (Gregory) Sculark, Brenda (Terri) Majors and Regina (Robert) Hardy; a son, Robert Clayton III; his brothers, Otis D. Clayton, Roy Clayton, Billy (Wilma) Clayton, Arthur Clayton and James (Patricia) Clayton, William Clayton and DeWayne (Shelia) Clayton; his sisters, Velma (Vernon) Clayton and Melinda Simmons; and his significant other, Gwendolyn Tyler; also, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; and his special best friend, Pierre (his fur baby).
There will be viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
