Jack Colbert, 76, of Rock-dale died Saturday, April 28, 2018.

Mr. Colbert was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, the 10th child of Sherman Carmack and Annie Luceil Hamilton Colbert.
At the age of 9, his mother died and he moved to Rule to live with his brother, Dr. Robert E. Colbert, and wife Golda Gates Colbert and their four children: Gerre Dianne (Sammy) Larned of Haskell, Pamela (Barry) McDonald of Andrews, Robert Gates (Lee Ann Toliver) of Plano, Anthony Chris of San Angelo; and sister Barbara Ann of Houston.
Mr. Colbert grew up in Rule, spending every summer in Tennessee with his father, grandmother, nephew Gary Huff, and sisters Gayle and Barbara.
After graduating from Rule High School, Mr. Colbert attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1964 with a degree in business.
In 1969, he married Amanda Lee Motley and they had two sons, Christopher Matthew Michael in 1972 and Edward Jackson in 1976.
Mr. Colbert worked as an insurance adjuster in Austin for many years before retirement to his farm in Rockdale in 2003.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Luceil Colbert; his grandparents, Robert E. and Maude Vashti Porter Colbert, and Milton G. and Dora Lively Hamilton; four sisters, Carol Ann, Frances Elaine Simon and husband Jerry, Helen Marie Land and husband Charles, Dorothy Dean Parker and husband Kenneth; and four brothers, Dr. Robert E. Colbert and wife Golda Gates, Paul Colbert and wife Christine Bates, James Earnest Colbert and Dewey Delane Colbert.
Suvivors are his two sons, Matt and Eddie, both of Austin; two sisters, Lois Gayle (Edward) Buckbee of Huntsville, Alabama, Barbara Ann (Craig) Hausman of Houston; a sister-in-law, Shelby Cox Colbert of Fayetteville, Tennessee; and his faithful dog Chloe; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
