Edna “Eddie” Mae Bloor Davidson, 89, of Thorndale died Monday, Jan. 2, at her daughter’s residence in Costa Rica after an extended illness.
Visitation with rosar y was held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Mass of Christian burial was on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockdale with Father Pedro Castillo as celebrant. Burial followed at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
Mrs. Davidson was born June 8, 1933, in Salem, Ohio, to Robert and Mary Bloor.
She enlisted in the U.S. Army WAC in 1950 and served in Japan, where she earned the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. She was honorably discharged in 1953 after achieving the rank of private first class.
She met Albert “Dave” Davidson while serving in the Army and they were married on Jan. 19, 1952, in Rogers, Arkansas.
Mrs. Davidson then traveled the world with her husband, while raising f ive children.
When they retired, she volunteered at the Temple V.A. Hospital for 20 years, even continuing after her husband Dave passed away in 2014.
She was a faithful church member serving on the Altar Society, leading the rosary and teaching Sunday School, serving wherever she was needed.
Mrs. Davidson was a member of multiple quilting guilds, sewing circles and crochet groups, she loved them all.
She also volunteered at the local public library. She loved to stay busy and involved in her community.
Mrs. Davidson was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her parents, Mary and Robert; a sister, Mary Lou Geier; and two brothers, Carl and Robert Bloor.
Survivors are a sister, Kathy Smith of Houston; five bothers, Ken Bloor of Gillette, Wyoming, Bernie Bloor and wife Annette of Mary Esther, Florida, Don Bloor of Hanoverton, Ohio, Paul Bloor and wife Saundra of Corinth, Dave Bloor and wife Debbie of Salem, Ohio; her children, James Davidson and wife Cindy of Spicewood, Joan Davidson and husband Edward Bailey of Florencia, Costa Rica, Karen Eliason and husband Bruce of Troy, Ohio, Bonnie Foster and husband Robert of Smithville, Bill Davidson of Georgetown.
Also, her grandchildren, Brad Davidson and wife Rhonda, Stacy Vu and husband Tom, Chris Braden and wife Kelly, Allison Albin and husband Robert, Roland Eliason and wife Jerusha, Matthew Eliason and wife Mariah, Carl Carpenter and wife Mandy, Amanda Carpenter-Zientek and husband William, Mark Davidson and Mallory Davidson; and her great-grandchildren, Pipper Vu, Maddox Vu, Lyndon Albin, Cordelia Albin, Evelyn Eliason, Charlotte Eliason, Eliza Carpenter and Sydney Carpenter, Seth Coldiron, Hannah Coldiron and Madelyn Zientek.
