Denman

Bobby E. Denman, 86, of the Sharp community passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services were held Saturd a y, June 1, at Phillips & Lucke y Funeral Home in Rockdale with Conley Shelander and Luther Shelander officiating. In accordance with Bobby’s wishes, there was no graveside service.

Bobby was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Milano to Ira Luther and Bertha (Childress) Denman.

He graduated from Milano High School with the class of 1956.

He married Phyllis Campbell on July 23, 1960.

In 1977, Bobby and Phyllis relocated their family from Houston to Sharp Community in Milam County.

Bobby owned and operated Centex Overhead Doors for many years, serving much of the Central Texas area.

He was a long-time member of Rockdale Full Gospel Chapel and most recently was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Minerva.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers J.P. “Cowboy” Denman, Ira Lee Denman, Charles Denman and Johnny Denman; and sisters Louise Edwards, Lucy Dragoo, Billie Ruth Shelander and Alma Jane Darwin.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Denman; children Bobby Leon Denman and wife Lynette, Mary Ruth Jacobs and husband Rodney, James Denman and wife, Crystal; grandchildren Dustin Denman, Amber Denman, Joshua Jacobs, Andrew Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs and spouse Logan James; great-grandchildren Alexa Denman and Zachary Denman; sister Alice Whiteley of Rockdale; and sisters-in-law Margaret Denman, Eva Denman and Anna Campbell.
