Rufus C. Doss, 96, of Rockdale, die Monday, May 30, 2022, at Rockdale Estates & Rehabilitation.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the funeral home.

Mr. Doss was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Rockdale to Rosa Katie (Brown) and George E. Doss Sr.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged as a corporal.

On Aug. 21, 1948, he married Gladys Louise Key in Rockdale.

Mr. Doss worked as a pot tender at Alcoa in Rockdale. He was also a farmer and rancher and an avid hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rosa Doss Sr.; his wife, Gladys Doss, on Jan. 12, 2013; a daughter, Geraldine Ann Edwards, on June 24, 2005; and a brother, George E. Doss Jr.

Surviving are his daughters, Kathy McGowan and husband Michael of Rockdale, Brenda Dean and husband Walter of Minerva; six grandchildren, Kimberly Caissie and husband Ron, Laura Pantoja and husband Carlos, Matthew McGowan, Kristi Hammack and husband Monty, LeAnn Simpson and husband Jeramie, John Dean and wife Victoria; 21 great-grandchildren, Valerie Tomek and husband Josh, Frederick and Milanka Mastan, Erica Casey, Kathrine, Lucas, and Makaila Jackson, Emma Dodge, Nia Pantoja, Genenieve and Kaden McGowan, Qyn, Shelby, Chesnee and Fynn Hammack, Taylor, Katelyn, Kameron and Kaleb Simpson, Bridger and Reagan Dean; and five great-great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Josh Jr., John and Destiny Tomek and Everly Carter.
