Douglas
Janice Marie Douglas, 58 of Houston, formerly of Rockdale, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 10 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Rockdale with Evangelist Lu Catheryn Byrdwell officiating. Interment was at Oak Law Cemetery in Rockdale.
Miss Douglas was born June 10, 1960, in Rockdale to Carrie Richards Douglas and Ellis Douglas Sr.
She graduated from Rockdale High School in 1978, where she was an active player on the basketball team.
She studied Engineering Drafting and Design at Texas State Technical College (TSTC), where she graduated with honors.
Miss Douglas was an employee of Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) for over 30 years and a faithful member of New Destiny PWC in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; a sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Douglas; a niece, Angela Nicole Douglas; and a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Douglas.
Survivors are her mother, Carrie Richards Douglas; three sisters, Darlene Douglas, Frances Miles and Doris Brown; five brothers, Ellis (Coleman) Douglas, Kirk Douglas, Stanley (Aretha) Douglas, Donald Brown, and Robert Anderson; special cousins, Eva Anderson and Carlos Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and other relatives including the Richards and McDonald families.
Pallbearers were Otis Duvall, Keith Williams, Fredrick Williams, Nathan Williams, Malcolm Williams, Jeriod Williams, Haywood Richards and Billy Tindle.
Honorary pallbearers were Carl Wayne Douglas, Rufus Ned Richards, Oscar Richards, Norman E. Douglas and Rudy Chambers.
