Dyer
Glen David Dyer, 73, of Wharton died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug., 21, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Chaplain Robert Haight officiating.
Visitation is set for 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Dyer was born Aug. 21, 1947, to J.C. and Viola Gertrude (Greener) Dyer in Austin.
He graduated from Rockdale High School.
Mr. Dyer served in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 27, 1967, until his honorable discharge on July 12, 1971.
He attended the University of Houston, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in management and worked in health care as a director of cardiopulmonary services.
Mr. Dyer enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Viet Nam Vets Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club for over 10 years, and was always eager to help a brother in need.
He also enjoyed volunteering with Habit for Humanity and restoring old cars.
Mr. Dyer was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Viola Dyer; two sisters, Dr. Ann Dyer and Joan High; and a brother-in-law, Norvell “Sam” Helpenstine.
Survivors are two daughters, Christine Crider and husband Bryan of Kyle, Bridget Lawrence and husband Logan of Buda; his grandchildren, Bryan G. Crider, Abigail Crider, Paxton Crider, Allyson Lawrence and Olivia Lawrence; and his siblings, Cheryl Helpenstine, Kay Fisher and husband John, all of Rockdale, Donna Urban and husband Bobby of Pearland, Darrell Dyer and wife Kimberly of Nowata, Oklahoma; also, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
