Ethel Joyce Seelig

Ethel Joyce Seelig, 91, of Thorndale passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at Hearthstone Nursing & Rehab in Round Rock.

The funeral service was to be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at First Baptist Church in Thorndale. Burial will follow in Thorndale City Cemetery.

A visitation will start at 9 a.m. Wednesday and go until service time at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Scroggins, Felix Hinostrosa, Clayton Schneider, Glen Schneider, Clifford Menzel and Allen Hejl.

Honorary pallbearers are Leonard Seelig, Donald Seelig, Anthony Niemtscke, and Richard Schneider.

Ethel was born on Aug. 9, 1933, to Bill Dockall and Anniemae Lamb in Milam County.

On July 7, 1952, she married Lawrence O. Seelig in Taylor.

She was a caring and loving wife and mother.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4009. She was the director of the Chamber of Commerce for six years. She helped out at Town & Country Arts & Crafts, as well as the Thorndale Senior Citizen’s Center. She was very active in the community and enjoyed helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Ethel is survived by her daughters, Brenda Brooks and husband Keith of Goldthwaite, and Beverly Hiatt of Thorndale; grandchildren James Hiatt II of Thorndale and Garrett Brooks and wife Selena of Dallas; as well as many extended family and friends.
