ELGIN—Margaret Ann Simmons Evans, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018.

The family will receive guests at Elgin Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, with a Celebration Life beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Ingram and Rev. Ronnie Gregory presiding. Interment will follow at Lawhon Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans was a long-time Rockdale resident and spent her last days at the Elgin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was the youngest of five children born to Evie Lee Moon Simmons and Archie Christian Simmons on Feb. 19, 1932.

She loved to sew and spend time with family and friends.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruth, Avon, Margie; her only brother, James “Sonny;” two sons, Gerald Dexter Worrell and Melburn Willard Worrell; and her first husband and father of her children, William Dexter Worrell.

Survivors are her husband, Richard Thomas Evans; three daughters, Diana and husband Billy Moon of Elgin, Irene and husband Ronnie Nester of Columbus, Indiana, Vinita and husband Mitch Lovings of Bryan; a son Daryl Worrell and wife Vickie of Kodak, Tennessee; also, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
