Gloria Vigil Ferguson, age 80, of Rockdale went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.

Gloria passed away at home surrounded by family after a short illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Andy Pate officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gloria was the youngest of 15 children, born on June 27, 1940, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Frank and Esolia Vigil.

While working at the White Dot Cafe, she met James Ferguson, who was stationed in White Sands, New Mexico, while serving in the army.

On Nov. 20, 1958, they were married and moved to Houston and made their first home.

In 1966, she and James moved to Rockdale, where James opened Barrington & Son Auto Parts and made their forever home.

To this union two children were born, Geri and Cheryl.

She spent her life taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; they were all her pride and joy.

She was a devout Christian and member of First Christian Church in Rockdale.

She enjoyed golfing at the Rockdale Country Club, tending to her meticulous yard, playing bingo, cooking to make sure no one in her family was hungry, and spending time with her family. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling, tennis, and bingo.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Lawis and Charlie Barrington, Selmer and Lucille Ferguson; brothers Frank, Eloy, Raymond, Elizario, Jose and Eloy Vigil; sisters Ethel Vigil, Rebecca Spedalieri, Vigilia Barbuda, Priscilla Griffin, Rosie Trujillo and Ernestine Krynitz; brothers-in-law Tom Ferguson, and Jerry and wife Diane Ferguson; and sisters-in-law Barbara Ryan and Martha Atkins.

Survivors are her husband, James Ferguson of Rockdale; daughters Geri Alexander and husband Shawn of Rockdale, and Cheryl Urbanovsky and husband David of Crawford; granddaughters Brooksy Fisher and husband Colby of Rockdale, Haley Davidson of Pflugerville, Brittany Bowman and husband Cotey of Pilot Point, Ashley Ballard and husband Colson of Olney; grandson John Urbanovsky and wife Bailey of Dallas; great-grandchildren Paisly and Owen Fisher, Oliver and Adeline Bowman, and Autumn Ballard; step-granddaughter Samantha Alexander; brother Leo Vigil and wife Jenny of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister Mary Boykin of El Paso; sisters-in-law Toribia Vigil of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Terry Eddy and husband Clifford of Plano, Wanda Leone and husband Lynn of Forney, Terri Ferguson of Spring, and Becky Hanson of Spring; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included John Urbanovsky, David Urbanovsky, Sahwn Alexander, Colby Fisher, Cotey Bowman and Colson Ballard.

Honorary pallbearers were all of her nephews.
