Gary

John T. “JT” Gary, 95, of Milano, formerly of Victoria, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Dave Barclay of First Baptist Church in Milano officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria.

Mr. Gary was born on July 31, 1923, in West Columbia to John Milton and Tommie Ardelea (Jones) Gary.

He was a graduate of Alvin High School.

Mr. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and served as a sergeant in both the European and Pacific theatres in the 342nd Infantry Regiment from April 1944 to May 1946.

In 1947, he married Anna Laura Ainsworth in Vernal, Utah.

Mr. Gary spent most of his life in the oil field and ranching. For 10 years he was president of Gary Oilfield Services, retiring in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ben, Milam, Blue and Art Gary; two sisters, Gussie Wade and Margaret Durso; and a stepbrother, Willie Harris.

Survivors are his wife, Laura Gary of Milano; a son, Thomas Wyatt Gary of Milano; and a sister, Joyce Marie Booth of Temple; also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
