TAYLOR—Freddy V Gola, age 82, of Taylor passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Mr. Gola

Freddy was born Jan. 3, 1942 in Taylor to Fred and Angelee Winkler Gola. He was raised in Rice’s Crossing and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1961 in Taylor.

Freddy married Mary Nell Walker on Dec. 28, 1963, at St. Anna’s Catholic Church in Somerville by Father Robert Mahoney.

He farmed and ranched his entire life in the Rice’s Crossing area.

Freddy loved to hunt, fish, go gambling and he loved to ride his John Deere Gator around looking at the cows and deer.

Freddy was a lifetime member of St. Mar y’s Catholic Church in Taylor, he was also a member of KJT of Taylor and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of Taylor for 50-plus years.

Freddy’s favorite sayings were: “You can fix anything with baling wire and duct tape.” “That’s what I know.”, “I ain’t lyin.” “Mary Nell.” And he called everything an “outfit.”

Freddy also was known for covering his mouth, scrunching up his shoulders and giggling after pranking someone, like a kid that just got away with something. He would snap his fingers for Mary Nell to bring him things (because she spoiled him), while laughing as he taught Logan “how its done.”

Kora and Bodie meant the world to Freddy, continuing his family line was his greatest pride. He FaceTimed Kora almost everyday during Covid, before she could even talk, just to see her. Freddy loved dropping by with grandma for surprised visits. Kora would sit in the car with them in the driveway and he’d have the biggest smile the whole time. He was so proud to have a boy in the family and elated to see how much his great-grandson resembles him.

Freddy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Veronica Gola Kaatz; and brother-in-law, Frank Kaatz Jr.

Freddy is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Gola; son Gary Gola (Sharla); daughter Tracy Doss (Jamie); granddaughters Brittni Gola Tucker (Logan), Coty Gola, Christina Doss Jimenez (Vincent), Natalie Doss Van Delden (Jeff); great-grandchildren Layton Tucker, Kora Tucker, Bodie Tucker, Hanna Jimenez, Haven Jimenez, Halle Jimenez, Ava Bush, Lyla Van-Delden and Violet VanDelden.

Freddy is also survived by his sister, Angie “Bootsie” Mucha (Clifford), along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
