Jackson
Jennifer “Ninnie” Sue Jackson was born Dec. 1, 1956, in Taylor to Velma Lucille Self and Jesse Woodrow Jackson.
She lived with her mother and father and two siblings, Randall Wayne and Deborah Carolyn, in Thorndale and then Star until she graduated from M.B. Smiley High School in May 1974.
After high school, she attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching on Dec. 15, 1979.
Upon graduation, she taught at Kennard High School in Kennard for a short time before returning to M.B. Smiley to teach high school English from 1980 to 1984.
In 1984, Mrs. Jackson moved to Arlington and began her 20-year tenure at Midlothian High School where she taught English, psychology and pociology and served as the debate coach and UIL coordinator.
She was a well-loved, dedicated and respected teacher. She could often be found spending her weekends with her family, reading a book at home, or at UIL tournaments with her “children.”
In December 2005, Mrs. Jackson retired from her teaching position in Midlothian to move to Mabank and care for her mother, Velma, until her death in December 2008.
She was a treasured sister, aunt, friend, and mentor who loved spending time with her family and friends, most especially her grand-nephews, Case and Carter. She wanted more than anything to impart her love of reading to them, so she would buy children’s books and spend their time together reading.
She remained in Mabank until her passing, but could often be found returning to Mansfield and Midlothian to visit family and friends.
Having reached the age of 64 years, Jennifer peacefully slipped away from this world during the early morning hours Monday, Nov. 15, 2021. She will be missed tremendously, but her impact will be lasting and the memories she left us with will never fade. She was a blessing to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Jesse Jackson.
Survivors are a brother, Randy and wife Doris Jackson of Thornton, CO; a sister, Debbie Hale of Mansfield, her nieces, Jamie and husband Sean Hansen of Boulder, CO, Sarah and husband Chad Hutchison of Mansfield, and Lauren Witt of Grand Prairie; a nephew, Brian and wife Audrey Jackson of San Diego, CA; and her grand-nephews, Case Wyatt Hutchison and Carter Teague Hutchison of Mansfield.
Funeral and burial services were held Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Salty Church and Cemetery in Salty.
