Jimmy Ray Baxter

A graveside service for Jimmy Ray Baxter was held Monday, June 17, 2019, at the IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Baxter died Thursday, June 13, in Temple.

He was born in Hanover on Aug. 17, 1940, to David Edward and Willie (Langford) Baxter.

Mr. Baxter graduated in 1959 from Rockdale High School.

He worked as a builder and built a lot of homes in Milam County.

He lived in California and Arizona for a few years, then returned to Rockdale and continued to build homes and apartments.

Mr. Baxter liked to fish and work in his garden.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Wayne Baxter; his parents; a sister, Barbara Ann Smith; a brother, Horace (Eddie) Baxter; and two nephews, Royce Edward Baxter and Jimmy Smith.

Survivors are a brother, David Baxter of Rockdale; three sisters, Nell Patton and husband Howard of Princeton, Bobbie Baxter of Canton, Linda Hurley and husband Dick of Broadus, Montana; also, seven nephews, three nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
