Joanne C. Roberts

Graveside services for Joanne C. Roberts, 83, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Visitation will also be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12-noon at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rock-dale.

Mrs. Roberts died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Lake Forest Village Good Samaritan in Denton.

She was born in Hammond, Louisiana, on May 9, 1935, to Joe E. and Agnes Mildred (Keesee) Cooper.

Mrs. Roberts graduated from high school in Malverne, Arkansas, and had worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement.

On June 8, 1961, she married Lt. Colonel Wilbur Clark Roberts, ret., in Austin.

Mrs. Roberts had lived in Taylor since 1986 before moving to Canyon Lake in 2007.

She traveled extensively with her husband after his retirement from the military service.

Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Roberts had a house built next to her sister’s where she spent the remainder of her life.

She enjoyed reading on her front porch with her cat laying next to her. She was also fond of sweets, whether it was pastries or M&M’s.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband and best friend on Nov. 29, 1996; a stepdaughter, Linda Ann Roberts; her parents; and a sister, Patricia C. Ray.

Survivors are a nephew, Reynaldo R. Ray, and nieces Constance M. Ray and Kimberly R. Steiner; also, six great-nieces and nephews and five great-great-nieces and nephews.
