Services for Lillian Marie Cmajdalka Krenek, 90, of Rockdale, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday May 24, followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Lillian died Saturday, May 20, in Taylor.
She was born Nov. 14, 1932, to Lad Charles and Annie P. Polasek Cmajdalka in Fayetteville.
She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, class of 1950.
She worked for SPJST Life Insurance after graduating high school.
On May 5, 1952, she married Clarence Krenek and to this union five children were born.
She and Clarence made their home in Rockdale in 1954. She was a stay at home mom, raising their children.
When the youngest started school, she went back to work for Al Sloan State Farm agent in 1970, where she worked for several years. Then she worked for Lloyd Currington until she retired.
Lillian and Clarence loved to go to the casinos in Louisiana. She loved her family gatherings, whether they were at her home, her children’s homes, or at the farm. She was a devoted mother, wife and friend.
Lillian was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was strong in her faith and served in various positions throughout the years in the Altar Society and was the chairman of the Clerical Endowment fund for 41 years, and was always involved in any church event.
In 2005, she was awarded the Lumen Gentium Award from the Diocese of Austin for St. Joseph’s Parish.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Mrs. Krenek was known for making kolaches and jelly and passed on her knowledge to her girls. She enjoyed making baby booties for Gifts For the Unborn; she made approximately 1,800 booties. She enjoyed quilting and would donate her quilts to May Fest; and also enjoyed playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Krenek; parents, Lad and Annie Cmajdalka; brothers, Lad and Alois Cmajdalka; and sister, Annette Kovar.
Survivors are her daughters, Joyce Paulk and husband Danny of Lexington, Patsy Hoffman and husband Richard of Red Rock, Beatrice Hilbig and husband Kevin of Cedar Creek, and Margaret Coker of Rockdale; her son, Edward Krenek and wife Tammy of Rockdale; a sister, Charlene Wick of Halletsville; sister- in-laws, Shirley Cmajdalka of Brenham and Shirley Cmajdalka of Garland; her grandchildren, Kevin Hoffman, Toby Hoffman, Scott Paulk, Taylor Cour, Brenna Heinrich, Jheri Uresti, Aaron Coker, Christina Coker and Drew Krenek; her great-grandchildren, Parker, Garrett and June Hoffman, Claire Paulk, Andrew and Hazel Hoffman, Zoey Walker, Isabelle, Asher and Vincent Coker, Ava and Blaine Heinrich, Lillian and Lucas Uresti, and one on the way; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hoffman, Toby Hoffman, Scott Paulk, Aaron Coker, Drew Krenek, Brian Heinrich, Anthony Uresti and Luke Cour.
The family would like to thank the staff at SPJST Nursing Home and Concho Hospice for their wonderful care. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
