Lenora Ann Krueger
MILANO—Lenora Ann Krueger, 81, of Van Vleck passed away Nov. 7, 2024.
She wa s born Feb. 20, 1943, in Cameron to Louie Wesley and Nellie Grey (Hildebrandt) Malone. She spent her childhood on the family farm helping pick peas and tomatoes which her father sold at markets. Her mother worked as a tailor for local residents.
Lenora graduated from Milano High School in 1961 and attended Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College with encouragement from Mrs. Krueger
her high school principal who insisted that she go to college.
She met her husband, Douglas Krueger, who was from Taylor, and they graduated from college in May 1965, got married in July, and were hired by Van Vleck ISD in August.
Lenora was a teacher for 45 years. She taught homemaking for high school initially before moving to junior high school, where she taught sixth-, seventh- and eighthgrade reading and language arts, and homemaking as an elective. She retired May 11, 2012.
Lenora was active in her community and shared her many hobbies and talents. She made and sold crafts at a gift store in Van Vleck.
She was a member of Van Vleck Methodist Church and helped with all the activities including coordinating crafts for Bible School for many years.
She was a member of a local teacher’s sorority called Alpha Delta Kappa Texas Pearls that sponsored a scholarship for a Senior from the community each year.
Her hobbies included reading books, sewing clothes, making quilts, cross stitching, canning vegetables from Doug’s garden, baking treats for neighbors during holidays, scrap-booking, and going on trips with friends.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them swimming, to the beach, and going to their ballgames.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Wanda June Baker.
She is survived by her daughter, Marla, and husband Joe Bermea of Pflugerville; her grandchildren, Joseph Bermea of Laredo and Jacen Bermea of Pflugerville.
The family received relatives and friends from visitation on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 18, with William Murphree and Pastor Kenny Carter officiating.
Lenora was buried beside her husband, Douglas, at Liberty Community Cemetery in Milano.
