Funeral services for Lois Ineda Bradshaw Lewis, 89, of Rockdale will be at 12-noon Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, with visitation at 10 a.m. at Rising Star Bapt ist Church in Rockdale. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Lois Ineda Bradshaw was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Giddings, to the late Elresia Bradshaw and Celess (Bonner) Bradshaw. She was the last of six children born to this union.
At an early age, Lois accepted Christ as her lord and savior and became a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church, along with her family.
She received her formal education in the local schools of Giddings.
On Sept. 24, 1954, she united in holy matrimony with James Lewis, and brought into this world three children, Sandra, Wondra and James Jr.
She moved to Rockdale shortly after getting married, where she joined New Hope Baptist Church. There she served on many committees throughout her membership.
She became a member of Rising Star Baptist Church and served there until relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, where she became a member of Peach Valley Missionary Baptist church.
Lois worked as home health-aide as well as a certified nursing assistant and medication aid at Manor Oaks Nursing Center for many years.
After retiring, she took on the job of caring for her daughter, Wondra Clark, until she passed.
She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren. She would often say they were her greatest accomplishment.
She loved gospel music and studying her bible.
Her hobbies included cooking/baking, fishing, gardening, working in the church, talking on the phone or spending time with family and friends.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, at 4:15 p.m., she gained her wings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elresia Bradshaw and Celess Bradshaw (Bonner); her husband, James Lewis; her brother, Lessly Bradshaw; sister Everee Wade; daughter Wondra Clark (Lewis); and her grandson, Travis Tinnin.
Survivors are her daughter, Sandra Brown (Fredie); son James Lewis Jr. (Lori); six grandchildren, Denetra Smith (Mon’te) Britonia Brown (Eddie H.), Ashli Tinnin-Trinh (Nathan), RoShunda Brown, Jordan Lewis (Sabrina L.), Byrick Clark (Dametrius); 14 great-grandchildren, Riquia Brown, Riquera Smith, Ryan O’Keefe, Cierra Smith, James O’Keefe, K’Miyah Smith, DeShun Brown, Aniyah McKnight, Thurgood Tinnin, Tallulah Tinnin, Braxton Clark, Leila Lewis, Camryn Clark, Nova Clark; two great-great grandchildren, Amarah Lavender and Liam Brown; and sister-in-law Lucille Bradshaw; also, a host of nieces, nephews, adoptive grandchildren and other relatives.
