Lorene “Sister” Wicker,
Services for Lorene “Sister” Wicker, 101, of Houston, formerly of Rockdale, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Gary Veit officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Visitation is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wicker died Friday, June 28, in Houston.
She was born May 22, 1918, in the Sharp community to Ben F. and Bernice Elnora (Pressly) Kraatz. She was raised in Sharp and attended Sharp School.
She also lived in McCamey, then to Rockdale for a number of years, then moved to Slaton, and returned to Rockdale in 1997.
Mrs. Wicker was a homemaker, a member of Peace Lutheran Church and Rockdale VFW Auxiliary, and delivered Meals on Wheels.
She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, dominoes, going to casinos, and spending time with her grandson and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husbands, Ruben Koenning, Benny Wenzel and Joe Wicker; and a son, Darrell Koenning; also, eight sisters and a brother.
Survivors are a grandson, Robert “Bobby” Koenning and wife Patty of Houston; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Brooke Koenning and Cody Ryan Koenning, both of Houston; a sister, Frances Lucille McCrummen of Apple Valley, California; and two brothers, Charles “Boots” Kraatz of Irving, Franklin “Gene” Kraatz of Apple Valley, California.
Pallbearers will be Robert “Bobby” Koenning, Cody Ryan Koenning, Fred Berger, David Kerbow, John Allan Roesler and Billy Ray Roesler.
