McGuire
Melba McGuire of Temple, formerly of Rockdale, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, in Gatesville after a long illness.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the funeral home.
Mrs. McGuire was born in Gause to Elmer David and Fannie Mae (Travis) Mathews.
On Sept. 22, 1956, she married Jimmy Wayne McGuire at First Baptist Church in Rockdale
Mrs. McGuire was immensely talented with painting, flower arranging and ballroom dancing. She won several awards in ballroom dancing. She painted many beautiful pictures and had her own line of flower arrangements which she called “Lilacs and Lace.”
Mrs. McGuire was preceded in death by her husband Wayne McGuire; a daughter, Vickie Rainey; and a brother, Gordon Wayne Mathews.
Survivors are a son, Bryant “Hitch” McGuire and wife Dani of Gatesville; two grandsons, Jeremi McGuire of Tyler, James Rainey of Austin; and a granddaughter, Emma Rainey of Austin.
