Merka

Helen Antonette Stall Merka passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.

Services will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, and a Christian burial service at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Merka was born in Lott on March 10, 1937, to Mathilda Rummel Stall and Julius Stall.

She grew up in the Burlington area attending Cameron schools and graduating from Yoe High in 1955.

Mrs. Merka also attended beauty school in Waco and worked in Waco, Temple, Cameron and Rockdale.

She married Thomas John Merka Jr. in 1958.

Survivors are two sons, Thomas J. Merka III and wife Connie of Rockdale and Michael Merka and wife Gayle of Cedar Creek; and four grandchildren, Thomas, Clayton, Kristine and Dalton.

Mrs. Merka was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas John Merka Jr.; and a brother, Albert Stall.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Merka, Michael Merka, Thomas Merka, Thomas Cruey, Dalton Merka and Randy Becker.

Honorary pallbearer is Kristine Merka.
