CAMERON—Dennis Miles Hail passed away on Aug. 15, 2024, peacefully after a shor t but hard - fough t battle with kidney cancer.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dennis was born Feb. 8, 1947, in Plainview to Wilbor and Melba Davis Hail.

He married Deborah Dockery on June 19, 1971. They moved to Austin in 1972 where they spent 40-plus years before retiring to his dream home in Rockdale. They renewed their wedding vows on June 19, 2021.

Dennis served as a U.S. Army E5 in Germany and Vietnam from 1966-1969. He was a recent Honor Flight recipient on a trip of a lifetime to Washington, DC.

He was a retired homebuilder and superintendent and he built his own home in Rockdale after retirement and loved working on their property and taking care of his longhorns and his loyal dogs, Ziggy and Tex.

Dennis loved his family and loved playing and teaching all his grandkids about the outdoors. He was a huge fan of the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys and loved the friendly rivalry with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gaylon Hail.

Survivors are his wife, Deborah Dockery Hail; son Michael Hail and wife Christina; daughter Lindsay Duren and husband Jason; seven grandchildren, Tyler Lyman, Haven Hargrove, Braxton Hail, Brinkley Hail, Braylen Hail, Jaye Duren and Jesse Duren; a great-grandson, Easton; and sisters Kathy Mathys, Tina Patton and Winna Fisher.
