Graveside services for Jeanette Rhodes, 83, of Lexington were held Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood with Pastor Lance Walch of Forest Grove Christian Church officiating.
Mrs. Rhodes died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1935, in Houston to Nathan Kirby and Lizzie Olene (Weisinger) Hawkins.
On March 8, 1952, she married William Clifford “Dusty” Rhodes in Houston.
They lived in Huntsville, where Jeanette worked as a secretary for Champion International. After working 35 years, Mrs. Rhodes retired as director of the safety department.
In 2007 she moved from Huntsville to Lexington. She was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church.
Mrs. Rhodes enjoyed her Bible study groups at Forest Grove and in Huntsville, attending sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren sporting events, and visiting her second family, the Champion family, in Huntsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 8, 1987; her parents; a sister, Yvonne Slott; and a granddaughter, Shawn Smith on June 16, 1992.
Survivors are a son, Shiloh V. “Rocky” Rhodes and wife Debra of Brenham; two daughters, Cathrin J. Richter and husband Ronnie, Rebecca J. Shelly and husband Wayne, all of Lexington; a brother, Nathan Kirby Hawkins of Kemah; her grandchildren, Tiffany and Daniel Herbrich, Mitchel and Ashlee Smith, Nick and Brittany Shelly, Amanda and Cody Wallace and Douglas Rhodes; and her great-grandchildren, Mason and Payton Herbrich, Emma and Jace Smith, Abby, Lizzy and Hattie Shelly, Hunter, Holt and Hudson Wallace.
Pallbearers were Shiloh Rhodes, Wayne Shelly, Douglas Rhodes, Nick Shelly, Cody Wallace, Daniel Herbich, Mason Herbrich and Hunter Wallace.
