MARYVILLE, TN—Vic ki Jane Vinsant Roddy, 78, passed away on Jan. 10, 2023.
She was born Nov. 12, 1944, to Jean and Von Vinsant in Maryville, Tennessee.
She attended Mar y ville City schools and graduated from UT – Knoxville in 1966.
On graduation day she married her high school sweetheart, and they began a lifelong journey following his Alcoa career. They had stops in Alcoa, Tennessee; Rockdale (twice); Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Knoxville, Tennessee (which included an assignment in Sardinia, Italy).
When working outside the home, she worked as a dietitian, Head Start teacher, travel agent and nutritionist.
In addition to spoiling her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, double solitaire, hand quilting, and swimming in the Little River.
In retirement, she volunteered at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center two to three days a week during the school year for field trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Yvonne Vinsant Kerley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jerry; her children, Melissa and Rusty (Tara); her grandchildren; Kayla, Savannah, Grayson and Ivy; a sister, Sherry Vinsant; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
We would like to give special thanks to Carolyn Cuthbertson, Lenita Huntley and Pam Dixon of Home Instead for the tender loving care given to Vicki for the last three years, and to Tabitha Travis for the physical therapy that kept her going.
Family and friends will assemble at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, for a graveside service and interment at Grandview Cemetery with Dr. Rev. Lowell Roddy officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center or The Pat Summitt Foundation.
