Royce Lee Roderick, 79, of Rockdale passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home in Rockdale.

A memorial visitation will be held 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Rod was born on Sept. 9, 1944, to Delbert H. Roderick and Eva M. Pittenger Roderick in New York.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received medals for National Defense Service, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Rod was employed with the City of Austin Energy Department for 20 years. He retired in 2003.

He was a huge supporter of the MARC Bike Run and first supporter of the “Save the Boobies” Bike Run. He was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars motorcycle club.

He also served as vice commander, commander and quartermaster of the Rockdale VFW.

Rod was an avid reader and collector of many things, Corvettes and motorcycles being his favorites. Rod rode over half a million miles on a motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Eva Roderick.

Rod is survived by significant other Terry Nevitt of Rockdale; daughters Crystal and son-in-law Luke Bell of Alta Loma CA, and Chancey and son-in-law Terry Wells of Greenbrier AR; Jackie Hanel, mother of Crystal and Chancey of Cameron; his sister, Sharon and brother-in-law Drew Bierds of Temple; sister Patricia and brother-in-law Don Clark of Nacogdoches; also, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A special thank you would like to be given to Terry and Sundance for the care they provided to Rod.
