Rodolfo “Rudy” G. Sanchez, 78, of Rockdale died in his sleep Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, in Mexico City where he was undergoing treatment for complications from diabetes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mr. Sanchez raised his family in Rockdale while an employee of Alcoa for 27 years and member of the Alcoa Steelworkers Union and Knights of Columbus.
He was born and raised in Seguin, until his marriage and a job opportunity at Alcoa took him to Rockdale.
His lifelong loves were his faith, family, fishing and football, especially his Dallas Cowboys and Rockdale Tigers, where his son, Rocky, played on the team.
Music ran through his veins, especially Tejano and Mariachi music to which he would wear out a dance floor.
Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel Sanchez and Sixto Sanchez; a son, Mario Alberto Sanchez; three brothers, Ramiro Sanchez, Raul Sanchez and Sixto Sanchez Jr.; and a sister, Petra Ortiz.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Lillian Alonzo Sanchez; two sons, Marco Antonio Sanchez and Marciano Armando Sanchez; two brothers, Roberto Sanchez and Roger Sanchez; and three sisters, Lydia Sanchez Garza, Maria Hermelinda Ortiz and Maria Elisa Gonzales.
