Funeral services for Rev. Calvin Edward Springer, 89, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Ron Martin, Rev. Marcus Evans and Rev. Barry Methvin officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home.

Rev. Springer died Sunday, Jan. 13, at his home in Rock-dale.

He was born July 21, 1929, in the Elevation community of Milam County to Theo P. and Emily E. (Nelson) Springer.

He grew up and attended school in Milam County.

On June 25, 1952, he married Doris Lee McCoy at Apostolic Faith Church in Rockdale.

Rev. Springer was called into the ministry, beginning with tent revivals. He pastored churches in Spearmen, Wichita (Kansas) and Rockdale. He continued in evangelistic work after pastoring and served various churches as interim pastor.

Rev. Springer was a member of Full Gospel Evangelist Association and served as vice president and president of FGEA for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Springer on Aug. 26, 2004; his mother on Jan. 18, 1964; his father on May 4, 1981; and two brothers, Leland T. Springer on June 28, 1988, and Rev. Douglas R. Springer on July 13, 2017.

Surviving are a daughter, LeAnn Wilde and her husband Doug of Rockdale; two granddaughters, Ann Alexandra Wilde and Caroline Lee Wilde; and a sister, Dorothy Muston of Rock-dale.

Pallbearers will be Robert Springer, Jeff Springer, Tim Springer, Mark Muston, Jonathan Muston and Ron McCoy.

Honorary pallbearer is Calvin Ivins.
