Stephen Michael “Steve” Simecek

CAMERON—Stephen Michael “Steve” Simecek, 62, of Cameron died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, in a Houston hospital.

Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 17, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Father Tom Chamberlin officiating. Burial followed at St. Monica’s Cemetery. Rosary was recited Friday, Aug. 16, at the funeral home.

A retired heavy equipment operator for Texas Department of Transportation, Mr. Simecek was born Jan. 10, 1957, in Cameron to Albyn and Alma Marie (Michalka) Simecek.

He was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron.

He married Mona Kay McGary.

Mr. Simecek was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Nicole Harris.

Survivors are his wife, Mona Simecek of Cameron; a son, “T.J.” Timothy Patterson of Cameron; two daughters, Natisha Longoria and husband Charles of Port Lavaca, Amanda Smith of Cameron; and three sisters, Carolyn Talafuse and husband Gary of Buckholts, Debbie Kruse and husband Bill, Cindy Hollas and husband Leon, all of Cameron; also, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
