Douglas Wayne Stewart, 46, of Milano passed away peacefully at home with his wife and children by his side on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 12-noon Saturday, May 18, at Phillips & Luckey Funera l H ome in Rockdale with Chad Lagrone officiating. Burial will follow at Milano Cemetery.

A visitation will start at 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

Doug was born Jan. 8, 1978, to Stanley Keith and Cheryl Lynn (Kornegay) Stewart in Cameron.

He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1997.

On Nov. 13, 1999, he married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Mason, at the Milano Baptist Church. Together they had three daughters that were his pride and joy. He enjoyed teaching them everything from fishing and hunting to how to cook his famous ribs.

Doug was a jack of all trades. His most recent job was as a supervisor in the oil fields. He was also a welder and fabricator.

He loved fishing, especially on the Brazos River, which he called his version of church.

He had a big heart and treated everyone like family. His favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas because he loved hosting family get-togethers. He was always the life of any party. He had a soft spot for animals, especially horses and dogs. He was also sentimental and was always sharing stories. He was truly a selfless man who loved his mom and dad.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alex Williams Kornegay Jr., Margie Marie Kornegay, and Edgar James Stewart, Geneva Elizabeth DuVall Stewart/Swift, Tom Swift; and an aunt, Lynda Jean (Kornegay) Knight.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Wendy Stewart of Milano; daughters Hayley Stewart, Katelynn Stewart and Maycey Stewart, all of Milano; parents Keith and Cheryl Stewart of Milano; brothers James Stanley Stewart and wife Ashley of Oklahoma, Michael Paul Stewart and wife Amanda of Milano; nieces and nephews Chase Stewart and wife Kendall, Laynie Engelmann and husband Dennis, Corbin Stewart, Halle Britt, Maci Britt, Addie Britt, Colton Stewart, Madison Stewart, George Burke Jr., Timothy Owens, Travis Owens, Waylon Owens; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many more family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Albright, Jr. Hurt, John Yackesch, Garry Yackesch, Brandon Vollentine, Terry Halpain, Bryan Woods and Chase Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers are Tim Beasley, Jennifer Fletcher, Scott Koenig, Bubba Blake, Heath Alford, Scott Owens, Mike Pickett, Corbin Stewart, Denis Engelmann and Colton Stewart.
