Willard L. Ferguson
Willard L. Ferguson of Rockdale went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at the age of 77, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Br yan surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 16, 1947, to Robert and Elda Dubose Ferguson in Luling.
A graduate of Southwest High School and Texas Tech University (magna cum laude), Will built a successful career as a land surveyor, civil engineer, oil and gas producer and consultant.
Will enjoyed traveling, reading and watching college sports. But more than this, he enjoyed supporting his family to achieve their goals, instill hard work ethics and loving his wife above all. Most know him by his sharp wit, fun sarcasm, willingness to say what was on his mind and to help anyone when they were down.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty Margaret Ferguson; his children, Matthew Ferguson (wife Cortney) of College Station, Bethany Bryan of New Braunfels and Abbie Ferguson of Rockdale; his grandchildren, Ella, Shepard, Nathanael, Adina and Maverick; his brothers, John (wife Alice) of Greer, SC, and Robert Jr. (wife Marie) of Natalia; brother-in-law Jim Smith of San Antonio; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elda Ferguson; and his siblings, Viola Lipscomb, Joe Ferguson, Leo Ferguson and Melba Smith.
Services were held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on Saturday, Nov. 16, with a graveside service immediately following at IOOF Cemetery.
