Funeral services for Joyce Yakesch, 90, of Milano were held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at Liberty Community Church in Liberty with Pastor Dave Barclay of First Baptist Church in Milano officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Community Cemetery in Liberty.

Mrs. Yakesch died Friday, Sept. 17, at her grandson’s home in Milano.

A lifelong resident of Milano, she was born April 20, 1931, in Milano to Thomas Wesley and Martha Elizabeth (Caywood) Cotten.

On Nov. 22, 1947, she married John Henry Yakesch in Cameron.

Mrs. Yakesch was a homemaker, taking care of her children as they grew and then on to her grandchildren.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Milano and also attended Liberty Community Church.

Mrs. Yakesch was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry on Jan. 20, 2012, their daughter, Gloria Jan Yakesch on Sept. 11, 2017; her parents Thomas and Martha Cotten; four sisters Betty Cotten, Eva Pounders, Louise Smith, Irene Jones and two brothers, Wesley Cotten, and Perry Cotten.

Survivors are her daughter, Carolyn Vinton of Milano; her son, John Pat Yakesch of Milano; two sisters, Dorothy Rae Moore and Vivian Colvert; and eight grandchildren, Travis Vinton and wife Vanna, Crystal Denman and husband James, Garry Yakesch and wife Marsha, Ginger Morgan and husband Lee, John Alvin Yakesch and wife Shannon, Robert Yakesch and wife Kayla, Ryan Jones and wife Jamie and Richard Jones and wife Ashley; also, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Travis Vinton, Garry Yakesch, John Yakesch, Robert Yakesch, James Denman, Lee Morgan, Ryan Jones and Richard Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Thurman, Corie Clay, Mike Grohosky, Bo Richardson, Patrick Yakesch, Kolter Vinton and Tim Clanton.
