Young

Michael Dean Young, 64, of Rockdale died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waco.

A memorial and celebration of life will be led by Barry Methvin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Patterson Civic Center in Rockdale.

Mr. Young was born Jan. 27, 1956, in Pasadena to Marvin Ray and Opal Mae (Mowdy) Young.

He was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron and attended TSTI for one year to study auto mechanics.

On May 14, 1977, he married Barbara Elaine Nolen in Rockdale. Mr. Young was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

He most recently worked in the Alcoa pot rooms from 1990 until 2008.

He enjoyed spending time with is wife, fishing, building and working on muscle cars, attending car shows, collecting Hot Wheels, and going to drag races at Little River Dragway or the Texas Motorplex.

He also enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family, attending the events his grandchildren were involved in, and riding around town with his grand dog, Shiner.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Ray and Opal Mae Young, and a sister, Opal Rae Young.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Young of Rockdale; his children, Michael Young II and wife Lani of Rockdale, Darla Tamez and husband Greg of Hutto, Chris Young and wife Meagan of Thorndale, Derek Young and wife Brittany of Rockdale; his grandchildren, Gavin Young, Taytum Young, Camryn Tamez, Caydence Tamez, Scarlett Young and Dagen Young; a sister, Judy Kopriva and husband Jimmie of Cameron; and a brother, Marvin Young and wife Regina of Cameron.
