On Monday, it was officially announced that Tiger powerlifters Gavin Aguilar, Bryce Flowers and Kevin Liu qualified for the Boys Region III meet on March 13 in Smithville. All three boys finished the regular season as one of the top 12 lifters in their respective division.
Rockdale’s first tournament of the season came down to the final play in a 4-4 game with tourney host, Jarrell. The Lady Tigers won the game on an error after an overthrow at first base led to Jena Locklin scoring the winning run and the first place trophy in Jarrell where they went undefeated with wins also over Austin’s Eastside Memorial 11-3, Bartlett 11-0 and Navarro 12-1.
For Tiger head track coach Lewis Edmonson, the 62nd Rockdale Relays will be a unique event, and not just because only four teams are allowed to compete due to the UIL’s COVID-19 protocols.
