The Milano Eagles were looking to remain unbeaten at the start the 2020 football season but got shut down by the Marlin Bulldogs in a 21-0 loss. The Eagles are now 1-1 on the season.
The Rockdale JV gold team continued to establish themselves with a 21-6 victory over the Taylor Fish on Thursday.
A battle of undefeated teams will commence on Friday as the Rockdale Tigers will travel to Lexington to face a physical and talented Eagles squad.
The Tigers showed why they’re one of the top teams in the state in their home opener. They dominated the Taylor Ducks 55-21. The Tigers are now 2-0 on the season and ranked No. 6 in the texasfootball.com 3A-Division I rankings.
Friday’s game against La Grange felt like what the year 2020 has been in a nutshell. Unpredictable pretty much sums up this year, but as adversities come our way, we deal with them the best way we can. This week’s column was supposed to be filled with a happy and joyous vibe. My intent was to tell you how much I enjoyed covering my first Rockdale varsity football game and watching the Tigers earn a great victory. However, it turned into something I never would’ve imagined.
