At Friday’s get together at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library the sponsor was the Kay Theater Board.
While they may look like easy gifts to give, you don't want to give the gift of foodborne illness. Bread or cakes baked in canning jars, then applying the lid, can create a low-oxygen environment. This, combined with baked goods high in moisture and low in acid, can support the growth of C. botulinum.
MARC consumers enjoyed turkey with all the sides last Wednesday. The turkeys, hams and dressing were prepared by MARC Board member Daniel Willie, while the other sides were made and served by other board members.
Rodney and Jocelyn Lewis put the final touches on Rockdale’s downtown district over the weekend by hanging the traditional candlestick lights on the light poles. New light poles will be installed in March of next year as part of the TxDOT project, and new decorations have been ordered that will fit on the new poles. Take a drive downtown in the evening to see it decorated for the first time in three years.
