CAMERON—A 55-year-old Rockdale man received two state jail terms recently in Judge John Youngblood’s 20th District Court, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey.

Calls for the Milam County Sheriff’s Department during the past week included:

THORNDALE CAR SHOW—Downtown Thorndale was bustling with people Saturday for the annual Thorndale Car Show, which is a fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce. Alan Hejl, who was in charge of the event, said he was pleased with the day. “We had 95 goodie bags (for the show car entrants) and we ran out,” he said. “This is the best one we have had. The turnout was incredible.” There were 129 cars and trucks in the competition along with six motorcycles. The car that won best in show was a 2002 Lotus Esprit owned by Gerald Hutchinson. The other winners of the day were: Class A, best car 1900 to 1942, Nick Bischoff’s 1941 Dodge Business Coupe; Class B, best car 1948 to 1964, Tim Patton’s 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air; Class C, best car 1965 to 1979, Marvin Phillip’s 1967 Chevrolet Nova; Class D, best car 1980 to present, Hutchinson’s Lotus; best truck, Aaron Gifford’s 1971 Chevrolet C-10; best motorcycle, Larry Gilbreath’s 1973 Harley Davidson; best original, A.K. Campbell’s 1957 Ford Thunderbird; and best historical, Dean Krahn’s 1929 Ford pickup. Reporter/David Money
