The yard of Lida Butler, 527 Bowser, has been named yardof-the-month for May by the Rockdale Earth Day Committee which is administering the monthly awards. She received a $25 gift certificate from Bloomers Garden Center in Elgin. Nominations for June must be received by May 20 at rockdaleearthday@yahoo.com.
Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath said Tuesday that Texas schools can hold outdoor graduation ceremonies June 1 or later but that’s probably not going to happen in Rockdale.
The Rockdale City Council has scheduled a second round of interviews as it searches for a replacement for long-time Police Chief Thomas Harris, who is retiring at the end of this month (see story above).
