On Monday night Milam County’s 68th death was recorded, according to County Judge Steve Young. He also reported that our vaccination rate had increased to 44.51% which represents 9,389 Milam County residents.

At the RISD school board meeting on Monday night, the Milam County Health Department was recognized by Rockdale ISD for “Stand Up for Texas Public Schools” Recognition Program.

A SALUTE TO THESE TROOPERS—Elissa Benford-Roberts and David Melton in front of their projects at Veterans Park. Benford-Roberts thought there should be a memorial at the park to honor all branches of the armed services, so she took her idea around town and everyone agreed. Melton had the same idea for Rockdale and everyone thought that would be a good idea, too. So one of the murals Sam Welty painted, with the help of the advanced RHS art students, was a United States flag. It’s the perfect backdrop for the monument project. Jim Gibson is Rockdale MDD’s new Economic Development Director and he has hit the ground running since he was hired two months a g o . H e ’ s been helping out with Project Saratoga. He started working with Alcoa helping to secure a 313 application, which is like a tax-abatement except it’s for schools.
