Tigers head to West
BREMOND—Rockdale baseball went undefeated at their second to last tournament of the season over this past weekend, beating Iola, Normangee and Franklin’s junior varsity.
Segovia, Perry qualify for state meet
DUBLIN—Over the weekend, Rockdale High School students Shelly Segovia and Elizabeth Perry qualified for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s state championship meet in Frisco. Segovia secured a silver medal in her division with a squat of 310 pounds, a bench press of 145 and a dead lift of 295 for a total of 750 pounds. The sophomore Perry punched her ticket to the next meet with a third-place finish by squatting 315 pounds, bench pressing 200 and a dead lift of 305 for a total of 820 pounds.
Bulldogs make run at regional tournament
Last Tuesday, Thorndale basketball had the task of taking on top-ranked Big Sandy in the Region IV quarterfinals, a team that many high school basketball fans around Texas thought would be playing for a state championship later this month.
