LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Dear editor, This is a request to all of our proud family and friends. My daughter, Tatiana Olivares, is completing her Plebe summer at the Academy for the next six weeks. She is participating in intensive trainings. She would greatly appreciate the words of encouragement in a sealed envelope. The letters were a true source of motivation the last go around. If you decide to send a small care package through USPS, please DO NOT send sweets or caffeine. They will be confiscated and she will be reprimanded. It can include protein such as bars, nuts, jerky, hydration packets, Windex wipes, Shout wipes, etc. No gum or anything with poppy seeds.
The 4th of July in Milam County
There’s lots going on this 4th of July in Milam County. For most people it means parties, fireworks, BBQ, baseball, dances, family, and this year in Rockdale there’ll even be a drone show. With all the opportunities to get out and enjoy the holiday this week, I thought I would touch base on some of the goings-on throughout Milam County. I’m sorry if I miss any, but these were the ones that pop up the most in the media or on social media.
A few jokes and some sesqui stuff
An old married couple went to breakfast at a restaurant where the seniors’ special was two eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast for $2.99.
Texas’ July 4th
Texas set the stage for its formal entry as the 28th state of the United States
