The Milam County outdoor burn ban was lifted at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, according to County Judge Steve Young.
AUSTIN—Drop that remote and grab those binoculars, the 24th annual Great Texas Birding Classic (GTBC) is kicking off fall with its annual bird watching competition. For the first time ever, this spring event has moved to the fall due to the public health crisis. Coinciding with the fall migration, the GTBC is perfect for novice birders and nature lovers who want to get outside and take part in the competition. The deadline to enter is Sept. 14.
A memorial service for Denice Doss, a tireless R o c k d a l e booster and community worker, who touched literally thousands of lives is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Meadow brook Baptist Church. Mrs. Doss died Tuesday.
Rockdale resident Ward Roddam (R) was sworn in last week as the newest member of the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD). Doing the honors was board president Sid Youngblood. Roddam was appointed to the board by the Milam County Commissioners Court.
