There will be a Rockdale Fair in 2020, there just won’t be any general spectators and a lot of events have been dropped.

No bears, but plenty of creek

After the dry peak summer months comes September and it has looked like this early on. Frequent rainfall in Rockdale and Milam County has sent some streams over their banks. This is Bear Creek on FM 1600 north of the Rockdale area. More rain is in the forecast at midweek, accompanied by cooler temperatures. Milam County’s outdoor burn ban has been lifted. Balloon launch honors stabbing victim

Under a gloomy sky and with rain coming down, red balloon were sent toward heaven in honor of Rockdale native Michael McDowell, who was killed in September of 2019 in a stabbing at an apartment complex in the city.
Oil play, pipelines spark appraisal rises

Council okays new fire truck purchase

The City of Rockdale has a shiny, close-to-new fire truck after the city council voted 5-0 to buy one at a meeting Tuesday night in the George Hill Patterson Community Center.
