Waterpark opens

The city’s splash pad at Sumuel Park opened on Saturday and these two kids were having a great time on what turned out to be a very hot day. Sumuel Park is located at 417 MLK Drive at 4th Street and also includes barbecue grills, a basketball court, free wifi, a playscape, restrooms and a walking trail.

ELVIS SIGHTING—Elvis was spotted on Thursday at Rockdale Estates & Rehabilitation and the crowd was very excited. Blue Suede Tunes’ Lynn and Cat performed a variety of Elvis tunes as well as other artists and they didn’t do any lip-syncing, it was live. This duo has performed here before and are always received enthusiastically. “Elvis” handed out his scarves to several ladies and, in this photo, he was given a lei by Doris Koerth.

A day featuring all kinds of music, vendors, tours of the The 1895 as well as a special VIP dinner made for fun-filled afternoon and evening of fundraising for the renovation of the old city hall building.
