EarlyAct FirstKnight (or EAFK) is a national award-winning, year-round program for elementary and middle school students that develops important social skills and high moral character. This program is sponsored by the Rockdale Rotary Club at Rockdale Intermediate School. According to Inclusion Aide Jessica Janak, “Each six weeks the staff and students focus on a character trait. Students are then nominated by peers and teachers in each class. The student receiving the most votes in each class is knighted at an EAFK ceremony.”

St. John’s United Methodist Church sent their members to Rockdale Elementary School last Wednesday to read to the students. See new Elementary school Principal Shannon Pourmanzadeah’s column on page 2A in which she emphasizes the importance of reading aloud to students. The Methodist Church also presented the school with a check for $500, a donation which will be used for strengthening their multi-lingual book selections.
New FFA officers elected Thursday at banquet

The Rockdale FFA chapter elected new leaders last Thursday at the FFA Banquet held in the RHS cafeteria. There was also a silent auction of their projects. The new FFA leaders are (L-R) Ryan Luckey, president; Tatiana Olivares, vice president; Macy McDaniel, secretary; Klay Eschberger, treasurer; Molly Moody, reporter; and Lacy Lindgren, sentinel.
