THREE MORE SHOWS—Milam Community Theater to present the Bagheera Cast's production of "The Jungle Book." Performances are Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and again Sunday, May 8 at 3 p.m. at the Lester and Beatrice Williams Event Center located at 408 S. Columbus Avenue in Cameron. Tickets are available at the door or online at milamcommunitytheater.com. "Come support our young actors and actresses in this fun play based on the books by Rudyard Kipling, said David Burnett, marketing director.

HEADING TO STATE—Milam County 4-H members competed at the District Consumer and Fashion Contests on April 25 and did so well the senior team is advancing to state. Team members are Ryan Luckey, Marisol Hill, Tessa Vaculin and Hunter Hux.

The walls are engulfed in a sea of writing and talk floats like waves, some strong and intense, others gentle and calm, throughout the classrooms and into the hallways. The energy is high and the excitement blows through the wings of the school like warm southerly winds. Rockdale Elementary is literacy rich, and our students soak it in like the sun.

From The Rockdale Reporter, Thursday, April 13, 1922, written by John Esten Cooke: “American Legion Will Organize Local Post. The Reporter is requested to announce that a meeting of ex-service men will be held at the city hall in Rockdale next Sunday afternoon , at 3:00 o’clock, for the purpose of organizing a local post of the American Legion. All ex-service men are cordially invited to attend this meeting, even if they do not expect to join the new command. Rockdale and vicinity could well support a large post, and The Reporter has often wondered why the boys have never organized locally.”
